Nyko Playground (BETA) Version 2.2 Problems

Nyko Playground (BETA)

DO NOT INSTALL UPDATE (2.2), AND DO NOT UPDATE FIRMWARE!

You can if you want, but I wouldn't suggest it.

For anyone that knows how to use Advanced mode, stick with version 2.1.0

The new firmware update will make the triggers stop working on regular PlayPads, and it will make APP mode turn into Mouse mode.

You also need 2.1.0 to reprogram pads. You can reprogram pads, then install any app update and the controller will always work, but it will revert back if you update firmware.

It could just be me having trouble with it, but I don't think so.

Download APK file for the previous version of Playground (2.1.0) here. You can re-install the old firmware, if you have already installed the new firmware from version 2.2

  4. I installed the app using the filesnack link.
Version of the is 2.2.4 and not 2.1.0?

Anyhow the advanced mode is available.
I tried to update the firmware of the pad following the steps I could find on current site.
The app claims to find the pad, progress bar moves to 50%, suddenly I get an error and the syncing is not successfull.

In which mode the pad needs to be during syncing?
Here I can find that the HID light should be on,
However the app says that I need to enter pairing mode, meaning fast blinking of the mode indicator.

I am running android version 4.2.1, maybe the firmware update needs to be done on downgraded version?

I contacted nyko, no reaction so far...

Is there somebody who can me some answers?

    1. In settings and apps, it will show version 2.1.0 (look at the above image).

You need to follow the instructions on the Help page (at the top). It will show you how to sync your pad and how to update firmware.

Try that, and let me know how you get on.

    2. I can confirm that it is version 2.1.0.

      Two remarks:
      - I am running android version 4.2.1 on my tablet
      - I am trying to update the firmware of a playpad PRO!

I followed the instructions according the help page,
It goes wrong during step 7...
I am asked to enable hid mode, then hold again the home button until the mode button begins to flash rapidly.
This seems to be the pairing mode, see even videos on youtube.

The scanning starts, I even get the message that my nyko playpad is found.
Progress bar goes up to 50%, suddenly I get an error message: unable to connect to playpad, check bleutooth connection...

So you see, I am not able to sync, even using app version 2.1.0...

    3. Ignore what it asks you to do. If you do it exactly how I posted, it will be fine.

    2. Followed the steps EXACTLY and I still get the sync error every time. Blue tooth off, install app v 2.1, sync bar at 50%, error message. Every. Time. Even reset phone before trying.

  10. I installed this version and everything worked fine with my regular playpad until I tried to update the firmware. Now the triggers don't work in the playground app and I can't manage to restore the old firmware via the app. Any suggestion?

  11. Some of you happens to have the first version of the app or the stock firmware?
Tha fact is that with the 2.1.0 update the triggers don't work and the d-pad is recognized as another analog stick.
